Just three and a half hours by car from Barcelona is located one of the best kept secrets of the Pyrenees Mountains, la Vall d’Aran. It’s fantastic weather and snow conditions, the beauty of the landscape and the wide range of outdoor activities has made it the Spanish jet set’s favourite winter destination. During five days we will carry out activities full of tradition and excitement. We will enjoy guided visits to typical Pyrenean towns (where we will discover its artisans, its Romanesque churches and its gastronomy), ski lessons, a snowmobile route to Montgarri valley, the spa of our hotel, a snowshoes route in Aiguamoix Valley and traditional Aranese meals.
DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1: BARCELONA > VALL D’ARAN
Trip to la Vall D’Aran / Typical Aranese dinner
This morning, we will be transferred (3h 30 mins drive approx.) from the hotel in Barcelona to la Vall d’Aran. Once we get to the hotel and settle in the rooms, we will have some time to relax until dinner time. We will enjoy an amazing dinner at a local restaurant, considered one of the best in the region.
DAY 2: VALL D’ARAN
Ski with guide-instructor / Spa / Arties Dinner
A complete day of skiing in which we will have a first contact with the station, its slopes, its snow… Our guide-instructor will help us to improve our style and show us the best areas of Baqueira Beret, the best Spanish Ski Resort with more than 161 kms of slopes. At mid day we will stop for lunch at a hut in the middle of the slopes and then get all the way down to the resort, where in the afternoon we will enjoy a relaxing Spa circuit before enjoying dinner in Arties, one of the most notable villages of the area.
DAY 3: VALL D’ARAN
Guided visit in Bagergue and Unha / Snowmobile
After having breakfast at the hotel, we will head to Bagergue, a charming Pyrenean town located 1430m above the sea level. There, we will meet a professional guide who will lead the visit around the town centre until Formatgeria Tarrau, a local cheese factory. Jose Antonio, the producer, will explain the cheesemaking process while we enjoy a wine & cheese tasting at the cheese shop. After that, we will go to Pla de Beret to start the snowmobile route to Montgarri, a valley full of calm and peace which has a sanctuary. On the way, we will have access to unique spots inaccessible by other types of transport that will make us feel its magic.
DAY 4: VALL D’ARAN
Ski day / Vielha
This day we will enjoy a full-day of skiing accompanied by our professional guide-instructor. We will carry out an itinerary through the four valleys that compose the station. The itinerary will always be adapted to our level and conditions. For the expert skiers we can also organize a heli ski day trip to the most remote areas. Later in the afternoon we will head to Vielha, the capital of la Vall D’Aran, an old little town with beautifull shops and restaurants.
DAY 5: VALL D’ARAN > BARCELONA
Snowshoes route / Lunch in an old shepherd’s hut / Trip back to Barcelona
After having breakfast at the hotel, we will head to Aiguamoix Valley to start the last activity of the trip, a snowshoes route led by our local guide. We will experience the discovery of a valley full of unmatched natural beauty all the way to an old shepherd’s hut transformed into a restaurant, Eth Cerer de Montadi, where we will enjoy a complete lunch to recover energies after the route. After five amazing days around la Vall d’Aran area we will head back to Barcelona to end or continue our holidays.
